Introduction GALLERY HYUNDAI (Artistic Director Do, Hyung-Teh)is the first specialized gallery in Korea opened in April, 1970 and has developed in the contemporary art scene about 40 years since its opening, accompanied by many artists. GALLERY HYUNDAI shows high quality exhibitions with more varied artists by which you can, at a glance, examine closely the trend of the art markets worldwide. GALLERY HYUNDAI has held a great number of exhibitions with the masters and the most prominent artists who are representative of the modern and contemporary Korean art. And also, it has highlighted the most significant tendencies of the past, the present and the future of the international world of art, by exhibitions of international artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andreas Gursky, Thomas Struth, Thomas Demand, Damien Hirst, Robert Indiana, Gerhard Richter, Robert Rauschenberg, Ellsworth Kelly, Julian Schnabel, Zeng Fanzhi, Tang Zhigang, Ai Weiwei and On Kawara; more than 400 exhibitions in total through 38 years. Since 1995 GALLERY HYUNDAI has run , a unique space for actively introducing and promoting domestic and foreign young artists. GALLERY HYUNDAI currently has three different spaces in the southern and northern part of Seoul; GALLERY HYUNDAI GANGNAM SPACE (Art Tower, # 640-6, Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu) opened in September 2008 and GALLERY HYUNDAI (New Space # 80 and Main Space #122, Sagan-dong, Jongno-gu) with an exhibit space of three floors each. GALLERY HYUNDAI newly opened a project gallery space named 16 bungee in February 2010. This unique space will feature a diverse program for artists who can attribute their creativity to the advancement and development of the contemporary art. 16 bungee seeks to introduce experimental art that can also appeal to the public.
