| Introduction | Gallery Hangil was established as a gallery who focuses on young talent in contemporary art field. Located in nature-rich Heyri Art Village in Gyeonggi Province, just about one hour drive from the central Seoul city, and as a part of “Bookhouse” cultural complex owned and organized by Hangilsa Publishing Co., Ltd., Gallery Hangil aims at being one of the most important and influential contemporary gallery not only in Korea but also in the East Asia region. Our main mission is to discover, nurture and promote emerging but exciting and promising artists, regardless of media ? painting, photography, print, sculpture or multi-media ? or nationality, in international art market and art society. It is needless to say that, as a gallery in Korea, we put emphasis on the countries like China, Taiwan, Japan, and not least, not to mention, Korea. However, at the same time, we are also going to be engaged in introducing important artists and art movements from outside the region, i.e. in the US and in Europe, to the Korean audience, based upon the belief that art is a powerful universal language in this age of borderlessness. |
