The Busan Biennale, which is rooted in the Busan Youth Biennale inaugurated in 1981, celebrates its 10th year since its inception. Busan Biennale 2010, as the first festival marking a new decade, has undergone a facelift, making changes to exhibition structures and directions.

The Busan Biennale 2010, which takes place from September 11 to November 20, is composed of the main exhibitions, collaborative exhibitions, such as "Now, Asian Art," academic and education programs, and other programs inviting the public. In continuation of the focus of the Busan Biennale on communication of contemporary art with the public, the Busan Biennale 2010 has sought to establish art as part of everyday life and devise diverse programs to raise understanding of contemporary art.

The theme of the Busan Biennale is "Living in Evolution." Under the theme, the way we are living our life will be reviewed in the framework of an individual life and development of human beings. The exhibitions of the Busan Biennale 2010 will employ the two time pillars of an individual life and a human civilization to try to find insights on relations between art, society, world, history and future.
