Lee Hwan-gwon’s sculptures are skewed figures and objects in contrasted to normal surroundings. The artist takes photographs of the subjects and then digitally alters the size of the images. His sculptures of elongated or flattened bodies give out the impression of movies, sizes of which are reformatted for onother media. As such, his way of expression is to reveal act of media while he reveal the border of perceptions between real and virtual world. This can be interpreted as a reaction to technology culture and attempt to overcome the limitation of sculpture in classical sense in the hope to create vitality in his sculpture.
