Park Junbeom experiments formalist element in animated images and videos as he often utilizes repetitive scenes, devices that accentuate various perspectives. His interests in formalism have been further developed as he incorporates subverting concepts of speed, distance, and perspectives to examine such formalist elements in his works, as the audience can find gigantic hands appear to operate truck crane, erect buildings, and controls the movement of traffics. Here presented is coexistence of two possible perspectives: optical device as the subject is one and the audience is the other. On the other hand, “Acrophobia”(2003) also exhibits subversion of time and speed as the falling baseballs in an empty court under the night lightings creates illusion of ping pong table. The experiments on ways of visual manipulation and repetitive scenes to create illusion are expanded through balls, court, props and stage set ups of his videos.
